Today I am discussing Shiva Purana where Sati ji had gone without invitation to the yagya ceremony of her father King Daksh in a dream.

Daksh was the father of Sati Ji. He was a strong critic of Mahadev Ji. He did not like Mahadev Ji. Sati’s marriage also did not take place with the wish of King Daksh. King Daksh had organized a huge Ashwamedha Yagya. He called Mahadev Ji. Did not want Sati, she was the youngest daughter of Daksh, now King Daksh did not even love Sati, he did not invite his daughter in this yagya.

Sati ji started insisting on Mahadev ji to go to the Yagya but Mahadev did not allow him and told him that he should not go anywhere without invitation but due to Sati ji’s insistence he allowed his wife Sati to go to the Ashwamedh Yagya.

Sati ji went to the Yagya without being invited. Now in the Yagya, she saw that all the gods were respected, everyone had a throne but there was no place for Mahadev ji. Sati ji got angry and she strongly opposed her father. Now her father King Daksh During the yagya of her daughter Sati, she started abusing Mahadev ji in front of the people. Then Sati ji could not tolerate the insult of her husband Mahadev ji and she committed suicide in the fire of the yagya.

But no one can avert the fate, Sati ji sacrificed her life, now Mahadev ji sent one of his forms there and destroyed everything, Daksh was also killed, all the gods ran away, the soldiers also ran away, the Yagya became like a crematorium. Now Mahadev ji came and saw that the lifeless body of Sati ji was lying there, that too burnt by the fire of Yagya. He picked up her burnt lifeless body in his lap and started roaming in the entire universe.

All the gods and goddesses got worried and then Lord Vishnu saw that Mahadev ji had forgotten the penance, now he has no knowledge, he has gone mad, he cut the body of Sati Mata into pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra and left the same pieces on the earth. Wherever the pieces started falling, the gods built temples of Sati Mata and then Mahadev ji was disillusioned.
